There are lots of these around. This is by far our favorite and our extended family has been making it for years.
2 cup(s) Flour
2 cup(s) Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 Sticks Butter or margarine
1 cup Water
4 tablespoon(s) Cocoa powder
2 Egg(s), beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Vanilla flavoring
FROSTING
1 stick Butter or margarine
4 tablespoon(s) Cocoa powder
6 tablespoon(s) Milk
1 box Confectioner’s sugar(powdered)
1 cup Pecans, chopped
1 teaspoon Vanilla flavoring
Pre-heat oven to 350º.
In large bowl, sift flour and re-sift with sugar. Set aside.
Put butter, cocoa and water in saucepan. Bring to boil and then pour into flour and sugar mixture.
In separate bowl mix eggs, buttermilk, soda and vanilla. Add this to flour mixture.
Bake in greased and floured pan(9 x 13) for 30 minutes.
FROSTING
Mix butter, cocoa and milk in saucepan but do not let it boil.
Remove from heat and add sugar, pecans and vanilla. Mix well.
Frost cake as soon it comes out of oven!
